31 Years and Counting

“There is no more lovely, friendly, and charming relationship, communion,
or company than a good marriage.” – Martin Luther

Omni Resort, Hilton Head Island, SC July 2012

Today we celebrate our 31st Wedding Anniversary and all the blessings and the challenges that came along with it. Through the years we’ve had extreme happiness and immense opportunities for growth; in the end, we are all the better for it.

It is a privilege being married to such a good and kind man, and also the greatest father who ever lived.  And, I daresay, he’s pretty lucky too. Amen.

You Will Be Missed

Today, we put our little Ash to rest in order to deliver him from his pain and suffering. We are grateful for the twelve wonderful years of love and loyalty that he gave us.

I’m Ahead of You on This One, Cameron

“I can’t wait to be that age, hanging out with a bunch of people my age all day long, playing golf and going to the beach. We’ll be laughing and having a good time, and getting loopy on our prescription drugs. Driving golf carts around. I can’t wait.”
 – Cameron Diaz

I’m almost there, Cameron. Almost there. Last weekend, I had a trial run at Wild Dunes Resort on Isle of Palms, SC. I think I could excel at loopy.

Whirlwind Week

May 4-7. Hanging out in NorCal with my first-born wonder and Ramon.

May 11. Habitat for Humanity Technology House build day. Great day of volunteering and giving back. Grateful that my company provides the opportunity to donate time to my community.

May 13. Blessed Mother’s Day with surprise visit from my big brother. So many expressions of love from my peeps and the realization that I am only as good as how my children perceive me.

Amazing Mother Runners!

Last Friday, I had the privilege to attend a private party and book reading in honor of Badass Mother Runners Dimity McDowell and Sarah Bowen Shea who are my daily source of inspiration, education and celebration on my running adventure.

DMD, MEV and SBS!

Desperately trying to look taller by standing on the third step landing. So sad.

The evening was so much fun, and it was a privilege to be among this lovely group of Georgia mother runners.  The swag bags with 3 pairs of socks, big tube of FlexPower muscle rub, Body Glide, two tubes of Nuun electrolyte water tabs and a super 20% off coupon for Lucy (what?!?) merchandise were just icing on the proverbial cake of celebrity hobnobbing!

And, since it’s true, I HAD to get “This is the easiest part of my day” shirt. Done and done.

Running really IS the easiest part of my day.

My, How Time Flies!

In addition to Ramon, I had two out of three chicks in the nest for my 2012 happy birthday celebration!

Lexi came to town to celebrate Carlos’ birthday, and I lucked out by association. Gabriel outdid himself by baking two birthday cakes – a Carrot Cake for Carlos and a classic Chocolate Cake for me. Get it, me!

DC Chick Comes Home

Katrina came home for her birthday weekend. She wanted to experience her “brother’s” restaurant – Nava will now forever be known as Gabe’s restaurant – so we took her there for dinner.  We enjoyed the most wonderful meal with the most precious attention to detail from Executive Chef Ryan, General Manager John and the supporting staff. A treat in every way, but most of all for the excellent appetizers, scrumptious entrees and Gabriel’s phenomenal desserts.

On Saturday, we went to the Pope High School Winter Guard show where the 2002 WGI Bronze Medalists met for a reunion and brief re-enactment of the acclaimed Serenade show. I can’t believe it’s been 10 years!
